Umami Sol

The Project

Developed a conceptual brand identity for Umami Sol, a Japanese–Peruvian fusion restaurant, focused on translating cross-cultural influences into a cohesive and scalable visual system.

The Design Approach

The identity explores the intersection of Japanese minimalism and Peruvian vibrancy. I used bold, modern typography to position the restaurant within an urban environment, while integrating cultural references through color and symbolism.

The name itself guided the visual hierarchy, “Umami” reflecting Japanese restraint and balance, and “Sol” drawing from Peruvian heritage. The red and warm off-white palette references Incan “Inti” textiles, symbolizing the sun and reinforcing the brand narrative.

The goal was to create a brand that felt energetic and contemporary while maintaining cultural respect and visual clarity.

The End Product

Built a cohesive brand system extending across apparel, packaging, menu design, and environmental applications. Developed mockups for T-shirts, tote bags, posters, signage, menus, and takeout materials to demonstrate scalability and real-world implementation across multiple channels.
